Created in Mexico in 2019 in oil on canvas with gold leaf, Contracción belongs to UMBRAL, a series that examines awakening, intuition, and the beginning of new stages. During this period, ALPA increasingly incorporated gold leaf into her paintings, extending her investigation of material beyond pigment alone and introducing surfaces that respond to changing conditions of light.
